Sunshine, along with the other Co-ops in the Federation of Alberta
Gas Co-ops, are shareholders in Gas Alberta Inc. and purchase our
gas exclusively from them. The Gas Alberta Inc.
portfolio includes hedged, storage, long & short term and daily spot
purchases. Sunshine applies a $1.40 GJ variable rate to the "Cost of
Gas " and a $30.00 monthly fixed charge to cover the cost of delivery to
the customer and to provide services such as line locates, trouble
calls, emergency response and maintenance to our pipeline system.
Gas Billing:
Our monthly gas
bills are sent out around the 10th of each month with the Due Date the 5th of the following month.
When you receive
a bill it will be for the previous months consumption. The bill
clearly shows the gas volumes and the associated charges for delivery
and service. If you have a concern about your account, please contact
the office for clarification.
Bill Payment & Options:
Amounts owing must be paid in full by the Due Date each month. There
are many options for bill payment including cheque, bank,
telephone and/or on-line banking, as well as Visa, Mastercard and
debit card. We also offer pre-authorized Credit Card and EFT
(Electronic Funds Transfer) payment options. Please contact
the office for more information or to request the
authorization/consent forms or print the
pre-authorization form.
Sunshine has already paid for the gas you consumed on your monthly
gas bill, and is not in a financial position to extend credit.
Accounts which are in arrears will be contacted and notified with a
service lock-off notice and deadline date for payment of arrears.
To avoid having the Arrears Administration fee added to your
account and your services locked off, we must receive payment prior to the deadline date.
E-Billing Option:
We are now able to offer E-billing as an electronic option to
receive your monthly gas bills. Please contact our office for
an E-billing consent form or download from the "pre-authorization
form" link in the Bill Payment & Options section above if you would prefer this method.
Gas Meters:
All gas meters are inspected and sealed by Measurement Canada. Every
five years the meter is removed and sent in for verification and
re-sealing to verify accuracy. It is extremely rare for a meter
to be out of calibration.
Safety:
The main gas shut off valve is located on the riser just
below the meter. It is important that this valve is accessible in
case of emergency. Also please do not use the meter set to hang
garden hoses or to leash pets to.
